Chalky

I bought chalk pastels by mistake when what I'd wanted was to experiment with oil pastels. This needs more filling in..

Vignettes & mementos

This record of my painting journey was set up as much for myself (lest I forget my back-stories and logic behind the chaos!) as for sharing with others.

I'm inspired by the beauty all around me--in the passage of light, the colours of shapes, and in stuff deemed mundane.

Every painting is a new experience for me. I want to capture my subjects in the way I relate to them; to paint the loveliness of things often overlooked in the rush of life.

I feel particularly drawn to transient spaces, sunny gardens, and marks of history. I'm intrigued by dusty works-in-progress, feel the vigour of cityscapes, and constantly gravitate to a still-life challenge of my favourite things.
